Eravikulam National Park

Eravikulam national park is located at a distance of 15 km from Munnar and is home to the Nilgiri Tahr an endangered species of mountain goats seen only in Munnar. The park covers an area of 97 sq km and is famous for the blue Neelakurinji flower that blossoms once every 12 years. Wild elephants and lion tailed monkeys can frequently be seen roaming freely in the park The Anamudi peak, the highest peak in Kerala and one of the most important tourist attractions in Munnar is also located here.

Anamudi Peak

Anamudi peak, located within the Eravikulam National Park is the highest peak (2695) in Kerala and is the highest peak south of the Himalayas. The slopes abound in rare flora and fauna. The Atlas moth, the largest moth in the world can also be seen here. Mountain trekking facilities are available and tourists are allowed to go up to the foot of the peak.Anamudi peak is one of the important tourist places to visit in Munnar.

Mattupetty Dam

Mattupetty dam is one of the earliest dams to be built in the country and is one of the most well known tourist attractions of Munnar. It is one of the most favorite picnic spots in Munnar. Located at a distance of 10 km from Munnar, it is one of the best places where boating facilities and horse riding facilities in Kerala are available. Families with children are frequently seen taking boat rides.

Echo Point

The place derives the name “echo point” as we can hear the echo of any sound that one makes. The echo phenomenon has made it one of the most important tourist attractions in Munnar. Top Station

Top station is the highest point in Munnar and is located at a distance of 37 km from Munnar. It is “must see” tourist destination in Munnar and even in Kerala. Conveyance facilities are available and buses ply from Munnar and take over an hour to reach the spot. The Neelakurinji flower that blossoms once in every twelve years can also be seen at the top station

Kundala Dam / Lake

The Kundala Lake is set amidst deep forests and is one of the most scenic places in Munnar. Kundala Lake has one of the best boating facilities available in Munnar and several tourists come to enjoy boat rides in this lake. It is located at a distance of 20 km from Munnar. It is one of the important places to visit in Munnar and is home to the best golf course in Munnar and one of the best golf course in Kerala. Though the golf course is owned by the Tata tea company tourists are seen playing golf here.

Atukkad Waterfalls

This waterfall located at a distance of 5 km from Munnar is set in the midst of deep forests. There is a pathway and one can drive up to the foot of the waterfalls. Atukkad waterfalls is one of the favorite tourist destinations in Munnar and tourists make it a point to visit this majestic spot.

Marayoor

Marayoor is home to the famous sandal wood forests of Kerala.  The Marayoor sandal wood forests are located at a distance of 40 km from Munnar town and are the only place in Kerala with natural growth of sandal wood trees. Within the sandal wood forests are the remnants of the Stone Age civilization. There is also a sandalwood factory run by the forest department, government o Kerala. The sandal wood forests in Munnar are a famous tourist attraction in Munnar and, for the convenience of tourists there is also a children’s park within the forest.

Kolukkamalai Tea Estate

This tea factory is one of the most famous tea factories in Munnar as it is located at a height of 7130 feet above sea level. This tea factory is a favourite tourist destination in Munnar as one can have a majestic view of the Western Ghats from the tea factory premises

Blossom Garden

Blossom Garden is one of the best flower gardens in Munnar and one can see several varieties of rare flowers that are not seen in other parts of Kerala. Tourists in large numbers are seen with families going through the garden  

Pothamedu

Pothamedu is located at a distance of 6 km from Munnar and is one of the most important places to visit in Munnar. Cheeyappara waterfalls is one of the most important tourist places to visit in Munnar.It is on the way to Munnar on the side of the Cochin -Madurai highway. Cheeyappara waterfalls and its surrounding areas are one of the favorite mountain trekking areas in Munnar. The waters cascade down in seven steps and are a majestic sight to watch. Anayirankal

Anayirankal has become an import tourist attraction and picnic spot in Munnar due to the Anayirankal dam and the vast expanse of tea plantations and the evergreen forests surrounding it.. Elephants can be seen roaming around the area.

Powerhouse Waterfalls

Powerhouse waterfalls is another famous waterfall in Munnar and is located on the way to Thekkady, 18 km from Munnar. The waters cascade from over a height of 2000 meters from the sea level and the area is surrounded by deep forests.
